Welcome to Urban Scholastic Center!
Urban Scholastic Center (USC) is a non-profit Christian ministry located in the heart of urban Kansas City, Kansas. Our current students – and the hundreds that came before them – are the inspiration behind the 19 years of USC in our community. As it was when we started, our focus continues to be on the holistic development of students and families in the Wyandotte County & KCK areas!

OUR PROGRAMS
Our programs are designed to connect students to Jesus Christ, improve their academic performance, enhance their leadership skills and equip them to become leaders in our ministry, the community and the world. Learn more about all of our programs below.
Life Enrichment is our holistic after-school academy for Wyandotte County students in grades 2 through 12. Students participate in discipleship, reading and math enrichment, community service, S.T.E.A.M., cultural enrichment, financial literacy, health & fitness, field trips, and more.
Soul Food is our dynamic Wednesday night Bible Study, where K-12 students come to have fun, eat a meal, and learn about Jesus at their level. Soul Food pushes each and every young person to grow personally & spiritually.
Through our Beautiful Feet program, the USC provides athletic footwear and equipment to athletes from Wyandotte. We also provide a meal and inspirational message before their home games.
Chess Club
Our Chess Club is designed to give students an opportunity to learn the fundamentals, strategies, and techniques of chess, improve their chess skills, and to enjoy competition among peers.
In our Urban Market students engage in an entrepreneurship curriculum that includes didactic and teaching coursework as well as leatherworking, printmaking, woodworking, creating scented soaps and other products, as well as financial literacy and how to market products through online stores and in person events.
The USC Literacy Program focuses on providing books and reading incentives to elementary school students in Wyandotte County. USC gives out over 13,000 books every year to Wyandotte County students.
Summer Enrichment
The summer equivalent of Life Enrichment where students participate in bible study, fun games, exercise, science projects, book studies, and field trips.
