Pre-K Before and After School Care Program Description: The USC Before and After School Pre-K program is formed in conjunction with the Kansas City Kansas Early Childhood Center. The program serves approximately 40 students between the ages of 3 to 5 years of age in the urban core of Wyandotte county. The program provides a safe and educationally enriching alternative for children during non-school hours. Our goal is to set students up for productive school days through an effective morning routine that helps accomplish daily goals, with a mix of independent and organized activities, and educational and recreational opportunities. 

Our program enhances preschoolers’ confidence and boosts school readiness by providing activities to help children become problem solvers and lifelong learners. Through independent exploration, structured activities, and hands-on learning, children work on early literacy, math, science, and social concepts. We desire to develop the whole child through high-quality childcare and by tending to each child’s social and emotional needs, mixed with a healthy dose of physical activities. Every day in our before and after school program, children will have the opportunity to participate in:

  • Whole-group instruction 
  • Small-group activities that provide skill-based learning opportunities.
  • Daily literacy -building activities
  • Child-directed play in learning centers 
  • Reflection of daily experiences

Pre-K Before and After School Teacher Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and maintain a constructive and ongoing rapport with children and parents
  • Create activities that are fun and educational for the children
  • Collaborate with other teachers to ensure that the school fosters an environment that is inviting and nurturing for every child
  • Deliver reports on potential concerns about students as to management as needed
  • Manage day-to-day classroom activities, including structured lessons, free play, bathroom breaks, lunch time and rest time for students

Compensation:  $11-$15 per hour depending on experience.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The USC Director of Operations serves as a member of the USC Executive/Leadership team and oversees the functions and operations of four key elements of the USC; facility management, transportation, financial management, and human resources. This position reports directly to the Executive Director of the USC and will include some supervision of other USC employees.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Financial Management

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director on the development, monitoring, and supervision of the USC Budget.
  • Oversee bookkeeping, receipt tracking, and spending operations for the organization.
  • Assist with financial oversight, checks and balances and fiscal management policies.
  • Prepare/ensure preparation of grant reports and internal/external financial reports.
  • Oversee donation monitoring, CRM data input, deposits, and other financial transactions of the USC.
  • Coordinate, schedule, and ensure successful completion and results for USC annual audit.

Facilities

  • Responsible for repairs, ordering equipment and supplies, and supervision of facilities and the facilities janitorial team.
  • Determine, schedule, supervise, and evaluate repairs and/or renovation projects.
  • Ensure that the facility is fully operational with all utilities and other equipment functioning properly.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, and assist with energy management
  • Oversee security of buildings and grounds.

Transportation

  • Arrange repairs and routine maintenance of transportation vehicles.
  • Conducting safety checks of vehicles.
  • Directing and overseeing transportation-related operations within the USC.
  • Oversee transportation staff and activities such as routing and tracking.

Human Resources

  • Provide human resource services in following areas: organizational recruiting, hiring and onboarding, staff development and training, employee relations, talent management, employee recognition, and performance management.
  • Manage all documentation related to human resources processes such as new hire paperwork and employee file maintenance.
  • Lead/plan organizational wide events including holiday party, book discussions, staff retreats, etc. with the goal to unify organizational culture and increase employee engagement.
  • Develop creative and meaningful employee communications and activities to promote staff engagement, increase talent retention, and shepherd and nurture the team’s culture.
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding employment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Strong financial management skills.Prefer 3–5 years’ experience in budgeting, planning, and forecasting.
  • Highly organized, systems-thinker with attention to detail; resourceful and friendly.
  • Ability to provide leadership, analyze situations and data, solve problems, handle or recommend appropriate course of action.
  • Ability to present complex and technical information to a general audience in order to facilitate decision-making.
  • Planning, project management, and facilitation skills.

Pay Range: $45,000 – $55,000, commensurate with experience.

Life Enrichment I is a holistic after school discipleship and leadership development program for 2nd- 5th grade students that meets on Mondays, Tuesday, Thursday and Fridays from 3:00pm to 6:00pm and Wednesday from 12:30pm to 6pm.  Staff engage with students and work with them to complete Bible studies, community service projects, leadership/character development, host social events, and lead cultural/educational enrichment events. 

 

Life Enrichment l Program Coordinator will:

  • Partner with the Director of Programming to develop a strategic plan for LE I
  • Develop/organize curriculum and schedule activities for the program
  • Evaluate program effectiveness by reviewing curriculum, past activities, measuring student achievement and growth by gathering input through various survey/assessments
  • Evaluate the current discipline procedures and implement any changes, if necessary
  • Recruit students to enroll into LE l
  • Serve in LE l students school(s) weekly.
  • Lead students in prayer, devotion & Bible study
  • Mentor students as needed (individual assessment is critical)
  • Drive USC vehicles to pick-up students from school
  • Prepare snacks for students
  • Lead exercise with the students
  • Assist with all Life Enrichment l programs 
  • Plan a monthly social event for LE students
  • Teach & assist with Soul Food Programming.

Life Enrichment l Program Coordinator will:

  • Recruit students to enroll into LE 
  • Serve in LE  students school(s) weekly.
  • Lead students in prayer, devotion & Bible study
  • Mentor students as needed (individual assessment is critical)
  • Drive USC vehicles to pick-up students from school
  • Prepare snacks for students
  • Lead exercise with the students
  • Assist with all Life Enrichment  programs 
  • Assist in planning  a monthly social event for LE students
  • Teach & assist with Soul Food Programming.

Position Title: Soul food Coordinator

Position Type: Part Time (20-25  hours per week)

Reports to: Director of Programming

 

Soul Food Program Description

Soul Food (SF) is an evangelistic and discipleship ministry for students in grades K-12 held on Thursday evenings from 5pm to 8:30pm. Staff/volunteers engage with students by playing games and sharing a meal with them. Students then come together for praise and worship and to hear a Biblical message presented by a USC employee/volunteer.

 

Soul Food Program Coordinator will:

  • Partner with the Director of Programming to develop a strategic plan for SF.
  • Encourage USC cross-program participation by increasing awareness and excitement of all USC programs. 
  • Train volunteers and interns to lead various components of the program
  • Recruit students to enroll into SF
  • Lead, plan, organize and coordinate SF activities
  • Curate music, create powerpoints and work media
  • Study for lessons and lead sessions when scheduled
  • Serve as a Discipleship Mentor
  • Serve in KCKPS school(s) weekly
  • Mentor students as needed 
  • Other duties as assigned
