Life Enrichment III Lead Coordinator
My name is Danielle Smithson and I am from Chillicothe, MO, a small town that a lot of people haven’t heard of and frequently mispronounce. Growing up in Chillicothe, I was surrounded by people who didn’t look like me, and I had many experiences that weren’t uplifting and made me feel like an outsider. These experiences developed in me a desire to empower young girls who looked like me to embrace their beauty and the purpose God predestined for them.
After high school, I attended the University of Central Missouri and graduated in May 2021 with a Bachelors in Social Work. This field was a good fit for me because I wanted to pour into and be an advocate for youth who need to see the love of Jesus and have a positive influence in their life. Little did I know God had a plan for me to do both at the USC.
In 2018, I married my goofy, loving high school sweetheart, Tyrin. He’s on staff at the USC, too, as the Life Enrichment II Coordinator and it’s a blessing that we get to serve together. We’re expecting our first baby in February and we are so excited!
God has designed me as someone who is warm, inviting, and relational. God grew a fire within me to be intentional with and a discipler to high school youth in the urban core. To be able to be a part of a child’s life and to see them grow in the Lord is something I’ve desired for a while, and I cannot wait to see the Lord bring it to fruition as I serve at the USC.
